The 2018 Regional Super50 bowled off yesterday, January 30th with an opener between the Windward Islands Volcanoes captained by Dominican Shane Shillingford, and the Combined Campuses & Colleges Marooners. The Marooners handed the Volcanes their first defeat of the tournament as they were bowled out for 113 while chasing a total of 228 set by the Marooners.
10 teams have been divided into two groups with reigning champions Barbados Pride, along with Trinidad & Tobago Red Force, Marooners, Windward Islands Volcanoes and Hampshire forming Group “A” to contest in Barbados, and last season’s runners-up Jamaica Scorpions together with Leeward Islands Hurricanes, Guyana Jaguars, United States and Kent in Group “B” to be played in Antigua. Each team will play against every other team in their group twice with the top two qualifying for the semi-finals, also to be staged under the lights at the CCG.
Two Dominicans; Kavem Hodge and Tyron Theophile are also apart of the 15 member Windward Islands team. Hodge and Shillingford took 1 wicket each with Hodge only registering 1 run from 7 balls while Shillingford and Theophile scored 9 each.

Their next match is scheduled for Saturday, February 3rd at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados where they will face the reigning champions Barbados Pride. Barbados seem to be in good form after defeating Trinidad & Tobago Red Force by 171 runs in their opener which placed them at top of Group A with a net run rate of 3.420 with the Windward Islands Volcanoes in 3rd with a net run rate of -2.300.
