It’s been a busy weekend for sports here in Dominica. We hope that you guys got a glimpse of the action. From football at the Newtown Savannah and Trafalgar, to cricket at the Jolly John Playing Field and the Windsor Park Stadium. Rounders at over (6) six different locations across the island with basketball at the Dominica Grammar School and matches from the DABA Play-Offs.
At Trafalgar, members of the Fire Service football team emerged as champions of the 2016 Roseau Valley League with a 3-1 victory over Tarish United ending the league undefeated.
An All Star Womens Football Match kick off at the Newtown Savanah yesterday to raise funds for female footballer Pearl Ettiene who is in need of urgent medical attention. Female athletes from across the island gathered to participate in that event and show their support for Pearl Ettiene.
The Finals of the DCA Digicel Augustus Gregoire Premier League also took place this weekend between Dublanc United and the Desiderata Tremors at the Windsor Park Stadium. A few popular players who participated were Shane Shillingford, Liam Sebastian, Mervin Matthew and Sports Man Of The Year Tyrone Theophile who also captained the winning side Desiderata Tremors.
Not forgetting the DABA Play-Offs where (4) four teams from the Premier and Division One leagues who made it to the semi finals were working hard to book a spot in the finals.
