Julian Wade and his club Slingerz FC continue to impress and show dominance as they won their last five (5) matches to maintain their position at the top of the Guyana Stag Elite League with thirty (30) points. Five (5) points clear of 2nd place Fruta Conquerors who also registered wins in their last five (5) matches.
Wade presently has five (5) goals from ten (10) games in that league and three (3) goals from two (2) games as the top scorer in the 2016 Scotiabank Men’s CFU Caribbean Cup thus far. Slingerz FC will be looking to continue this unbeaten run as they face rivals Alpha United who are currently in 3rd later today.
However, Wade is not the only foreign based dominican footballer to be in good form recently. Both Briel Thomas and Anfernee Frederick from Trinidad based club DirectTV W.Connection have been in great form for club and country. Both players had star performances for Dominica in the first round of the Caribbean Cup.
But over the weekend, W.Connection could only go home with the runners up trophy and TT$19,000 in the Lucozade Sport Goal Shield as they lost 4-1 on penalties to Morvant Caledonia United, former club of Julian Wade. It was Caledonias first trophy since 2013.
W.Connection will be travelling to Haiti to compete in the semi finals of the National Cup on Friday, April 29th. Hopefully they’ll capture their third major title this season after winning the First Citizens Cup and Toyota Classic. We wish them all the best.
