Manchester United Coach to make coaching/scouting visit to Dominica

Manchester United Coach

A cadre of local coaches and young players will get the opportunity to be coached and evaluated by coaches from two European clubs, including a current coach from the world famous Manchester United Academy.

The Dominican players and coaches will get the opportunity to participate in a 2-day football session starting on July 24th and 25that the Dublanc playing field (4:30pm) and Windsor Park Sports Stadium (9:00am) respectively.

The sessions during the weekend activity will include short, intense and impactful coaching sessions for the coaches, complimented by practical sessions including both players and coaches. The aim of the session is to provide Dominican coaches and players with rudimentary approaches to football coaching that will assist in developing youth players.

The players will also benefit from evaluations of their technical capacities, fitness levels, knowledge and attitude of the game and professionalism in football.

This activity builds upon previous visits of Gary St. Rose, from W Connection out of Trinidad and Tobago, most recently in 2015 and is a signal of a new impetus on the development of elite players at the youth level who can impact on the quality of local football as well as international representation. The facilitators for the camp are Louis Garvey from Manchester United of the English Premier League and Jacob Tind of Silkborg Football Club of the Denmark Premier League.

This course/session is a testimony of the new vision for development of football and sport within the Commonwealth of Dominica and is as a result of rigorous planning from the Way Forward Team as well as corporate and private sector support from companies and other entities across Dominica, including the Dublanc Village Council, the Windsor Park Sports Stadium, the Delganis Sports Zone, Sign Man, Discover Dominica Authority and Castle Comfort Lodge.

The Way Forward team is comprised of numerous individuals (see table below) who will be presenting themselves for the Dominica Football Association’s elections during the Annual General Meeting on August 1st, 2015.
