On the road to Sunday’s final, the Pointe Michel Cricket Academy beat Gladiators and Somerset to top their group and then beat Evergreen in the Semifinals, while Police Sports Club beat Gladiators and Pointe Michel in the preliminary round and went on to win Somerset in the Semifinals.
Marinor Blasters journeyed to the finals by beating Tremors in the preliminary round and then Summits in the Semifinals, while Grand Bay Colts beat Tremors and Marinor Blasters in the preliminary round and won against Dublanc in the Semifinals to move forward.
CEO of MMCE, Anthony Haiden, said, it’s an honour to be sponsoring this event. “It is a first for us to be involved in a sporting and sponsorship activity but cricket is a sport that unites Dominica whenever it is played and we are honoured to be a part of it,” he said.
Meanwhile, President of the DCA, Emmanuel Nanthan, said they are very excited to have forged this new partnership, “We are happy to have MMCE on board. They came forward without hesitation and we hope that the public will come out in the same way to support local cricket. The finals in both divisions promise to be exciting and entertaining so we encourage the cricket-loving public to make it a lime and bring your family and friends to the Windsor Park on Sunday afternoon to see some good cricket and have some good fun.”
MMCE is the Company responsible for building houses for the resettlement of the people of Petite Savanne, displaced by Tropical Storm Erika. Entrance to the matches is absolutely free, so please come out and show some support.
