RDPS Occupy Hard Court. Protest!

The students and staff of the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School, conducted a small protest at the Benjamins Park in Portsmouth ahead of the finals of the Primary Schools Netball Championship organized by the Dominica Sports Division which prevented the commencement of the scheduled match.

It appears that the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School felt that they were wrongfully denied a shot at the final after an error was made by the organizers which in-turn caused them to face the wrong team in the quarter-final stage where they lost.

Based on the information gathered, the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School (zone champions) played against the WS Stevens Primary School (zone champions) in the quarterfinals of the Primary School Netball Tournament while the Saint Johns Primary runner-up played against Sinekuu Primary runner-up in Marigot on Tuesday last week.

After both games were played, it was found out that the wrong teams played against each other. Irrespective of the mistakes made and confirmed by the sports officials, semi-finals matches continued between the Saint Johns Primary and Salibury Primary.
The final was scheduled to take place today between WS Stevens and Saint Johns and hence the reasons for the protest.

According to anonymous sources, the purpose of the protest today was due to the fact that the RDPS would like proper actions to be taken in the right direction, moreover, respect and fairness should be displayed to all schools and individuals in the same manner.

I did not like the fact that the students were involved in this. They are just kids. What kind of message is this sending out ?.. That their only means of getting to the bottom of something is through protest ? Why didn’t the teachers call sports division and handle the matter prior for they knew of the error since the day of their match ? It should have been handled better than this in my opinion. They had ample time.

How do you know that all efforts were not made to rectify the situation??? The students are the ones who play the game so they have every right to be involved. They knew why they were protesting.

Do you think the sports division wasn’t called? I think they would have contacted and spoken to sport division before taking action.
