The 2016 version of the WINLOTT INC. WICBC Under 15 Tournament kicked off on Saturday 2nd April in Dominica. The participating countries were; Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
All participating teams have be training hard in preparation for this tournament to showcase their skills and improve their chances for selection on the Windward Islands U-15 team which will participate in the Regional U-15 Tournament in Grenada from July 24 to August 4, 2016. St. Lucia captured their third consecutive Windward Islands U-15 title in grand style as they won Grenada by 86 runs.
Opting to bat first, St Lucia rattled up 201 for five off their 50 overs with Garvin Serieux stroking 62 with a four and two sixes, and Dominic Auguste getting 32 not out and Ackeem Auguste, 30.
For Grenada, Rayvon Hitlall was the best bowler with two for 31 from his nine overs.
In reply, Grenada were bundled out for 115 off 33.1 overs, with leg-spinner Zephaniah Edwin wrecking the innings with a haul of five for 20 from his 10 overs. He was supported by captain Simeon Gerson who picked up three for 18.
Only Anthony Rocastle with 28 showed any resistance for Grenada.
The victory, which atoned for a six-run defeat to the Grenadians earlier in the week, put St Lucia on an assailable eight points, ahead of the final round of matches on Saturday.
