FDI U-15 Secondary Schools Cricket

The 2016 First Domestic Insurance Secondary Schools U-15 Cricket Championship will culminate on Friday, 20th May at the Botanic Gardens.

The Sports Division organized championship started on 15th April and saw the participation of eight (8) school teams and in Friday’s Final, the top two (2) teams namely, the Castle Bruce Secondary School (CBSS) and the Goodwill Secondary School (GSS) will feature.

The match is carded to take place from 10:00am but prior to the start of the match, officials of the Ministry of Sports and the First Domestic Insurance Company Ltd will meet and congratulate the members of the teams.

Amongst the top players to feature in the Final are Malaki Xavier from the GSS who emerged as Dominica’s leading All Rounder in the 2016 Windward Islands U-15 Cricket Tournament recently held in Dominica and Delaney Alexander – a left-arm spinner and right-armed batsman who has done very well in the tournament.

For CBSS, Dion Williams, Dillon Cuffy and Vorn Auguiste who all represented Dominica at the 2016 Windwards U-15 Cricket Tournament will feature.

For the first time, the First Domestic Insurance Company Ltd came on board and to sponsor the 2016 championship in the amount of EC $10, 000.00.

So far, there were five half-centuries and two centuries scored in the competition – Dion Williams from CBSS scored 118 and Malaki Xavier scored 102.

The Sports Division wishes to express its gratitude to the schools, students, groundsmen, umpires and the First Domestic Insurance Company Ltd  and all other stakeholders for their support in bringing this championship to the young cricketers of Dominica.

This is the final championship which will be organized by the Sports Division for the Secondary Schools for the 2015/16 Academic Year.
